-t STUDIO SURVEY Hollywood Takes A WellDeserved Bow As a result of MOTION PICTURE EXHIBITOR'S 1955 INTERNATIONAL LAUREL AWARDS POLL, artisans of Hollywood who rated top positions were presented with their permanent reminders of this honor from the film buyers. We will present in this section from time to time photos of these artists. An outstanding achievement is that of Cecil B. DeMille, who has been voted top producer-director in every LAUREL AWARD poll thus far, this recent victory being the seventh consecutive year that exhibitors have voted him top man in his field. Cecil B. DeMille is honored the seventh consecuĀ¬ tive year as Number One Producer-Director. Paul Manning presents the plaque. Gary Cooper receives his Laurel Award from Manning. He was voted the Number One Male Screen Star for 1955 in the MPE poll. Alfred Hitchcock receives his award from Manning for his directing of "Rear Window," voted the year's best dramatic picture. Doris Day and James Stewart hold Laurel Awards testifying to their victories in the Top Ten Stars division of the poll. Promising young producer Ross Hunter holds his Laurel Award for "Magnificent Obsession," a Top Five dramatic film. June Allyson and her husband, Dick Powell, share Laurel honors, hers for a Top Ten star, and his for a Top Ten film director victory. Rita Moreno received her Lauref Award for the niche she won as one of the Top Ten New Screen Personalities in her first feature role. fast-rising director Richard Fleischer is honored for his distinguished work on Walt Disney's "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea." Universal-International holds high hopes for George Nader, voted one of the Top Ten New Screen Personalities in the poll. MOTION PICTURE EXHIBITOR October 26, 1955
