Kendall has been elected president, Pepsi-Cola International, by the board of directors, it was announced recently by Alfred N. Steele, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of the Pepsi-Cola Company. Pepsi-Cola Interna¬ tional, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pepsi¬ Cola Company, has operations in 75 countries overseas. Kendall was vice-president in charge of marketing of the parent company. Prior to that, he was vice president in charge of na¬ tional accounts and syrup sales. Earlier, he was assistant national sales manager in the same department. He joined Pepsi-Cola in 1947. Kendall succeeds Henry M. Winter, who will serve as consultant to Pepsi-Cola Inter¬ national. ATC Vending Conference BOSTON — District manager Jim Dempsey, American Theatres Corporation, recently called a meeting of five drive-in managers for conferences on vending and promotional ideas. Part of the get-together was devoted to a brainstorming session, with new stunts explored and old promotional ideas discussed and embellished. The ATC “Dinny Drive-In Safety Club” re¬ ported new members and renewed interest among both the kiddies and the parents. Dempsey stressed the importance of constant supervision over the concession stand by each individual manager. “As impulse buying is assured by proper display of foodstuffs, I believe managers can learn a valuable lesson by visiting supermarkets where this type of merchandising is of supreme importance,” Dempsey said. W. R. Keefe, Candy Executive NEW YORK — Walter Robert Keefe, 61, vice-president and sales manager, Henry Heide, Inc., confectionery manufacturer, died suddenly last month. He had been associated with the firm for 47 years and was a mem¬ ber of the National Candy Salesmen’s As¬ sociation, the New York Candy Club, and the Sales Executive Club of New York City. NAC's Sullivan Honored Chicago — Thomas J. Sullivan, executive vice-president, secretary, and general counsel of the National Association of Concessionaires, formerly the Popcorn and Concessions As¬ sociation, has been elected president of the Trade Association Executive Forum of Chi¬ cago. Donald M. Kendall, recently elected presi¬ dent of Pepsi-Cola International, has filled a number of important posts with the over¬ seas arm of the beverage company. During World War II, he served as a naval pilot. Promotion of Jackson Dunwoody to the newly created post of general field sales manager, Rowe Manufacturing Company, has been announced by Charles H. Brinkmann, vice-president in charge of sales. In his new post, Dunwoody will have complete respon¬ sibility over the Rowe field force, including div¬ ision managers, under the overall direction of Brinkmann. He will act as liason between the New York headquarters office and the field, will be responsible for selec¬ tion and training of all sales personnel, and will activities of Rowe divisional offices through¬ out the country. Dunwoody, who will make his headquarters in the Rowe New York office, had been southern division sales manager. Developed especially for theatre use, gay, two-tone, lavender, green, red, blue, and brown colors are available in seven, nine, 12, 14, and 16 ounce sizes for cold drinks; six and eight ounce sizes for hot drinks; and a seven and a quarter ounce size for automatic drink vending machines. The series features messages promoting movie attendance, such as "Bring the Whole Family," "Come Often," and "Movies Are Your Best Entertainment."
