dress and walking coat in red wool with leopard TIE-UPS GALORE. There are six sock tunes for record or sheet-music tie-ups with your neighboring stores, disc jockeys, and teen-clubs. And there are dozens of specially posed stills for tie-ups on fashions, jewelry, hosiery, pillows, and even automobiles. Add to all this the tremendous popularity of the two top "money stars," and you can't miss. In the neighborhood booking of this picture, we are pre¬ paring special sales pennants for supermarkets, drug and de¬ partment stores, Five-and-Tens, etc. Copy along the lines of “Two biggest events in town! Our superb values and PILLOW TALK at RKO.” These will be used in store windows and strung wall-to-wall inside the stores. For the Palace opening, Bill Cullen and Art Ford N.B.C., were tied-in on a “Why I’d like to be Rock Hudson’s guest at the Palace” contest. CBS Radio on the Freeman and Hayes Show gave away a six-month free phone service to the teen¬ ager writing the title “PILLOW TALK” the most times on the back of a government post-card. Similar tie-ups will be made for the neighborhood theatres with local stations and news¬ papers in Westchester, Brooklyn, and Long Island. To get away from the usual lobby display, we are using a flat 40x80 blow-up of Hudson and Day sitting in bathtubs with their toes touching. This will be augmented with the Life and Look magazine layouts and the New York reviews. To get the patrons to look at the excellent stills on this show, we are preparing a 40x60 consisting completely of stills. A crown over this 40x60 will announce prizes of guest tickets to persons guessing the number of times Rock Hudson and Doris Day appear on the display. This will be used in lobbies, space permitting, or in prominent store windows. Stealing an idea we saw at the U-I home office, some of our theatres will use a shadow box covered with a black scrim, with a flasher attachment. Copy on the face reads: “What goes on when the lights go off?” When shadow box lights up, it reveals a clinch and copy on the show. The use of autographed photos for give-away, street floats, heralds ( with merchant tie-in to defray cost ) , and other stunts will be used to spread the word on this picture. Of course, all these local efforts will be supported by a strong daily newspaper, TV, and radio campaign. And our thanks to U-I for its terrific national magazine TV and disc jockey campaign that smoothes the way for us to do our local selling— and above all for providing an excellent film that we know will make all our selling efforts pay off. Jewelry Hosiery Pillows Chrysler Imperial A PIN-BOARD in the Pal¬ ace lobby awaited the rave newspaper reviews of the next day. Ad Mat 207 is a page stealer. He had a thousand names in his little black book... (but not hers!). She had a thousand ways of saying “NO!” (till she met him!) so they met each other halfway! Doris sings ! Rock sings!
