Sid Whiteman, Universal Alabama sales representative, is recovering BOSTON With all litigation cleared on the proposed drive-in for Braintree, Mass., Arthur K. Howard, president of Braintree Drive-In, Inc., will start construction early this spring on a 2,000-car open airer to be ready for an early summer opening. Plans for the theatre were held up by an abutter who pro¬ tested the building of the theatre, taking the case to the Norfolk County Court. The master sitting on the case found in favor of the theatre, thus removing the last stumbling block toward the erection of the theatre. . . . Hal O’Day, district manager of Redstone Drive-In Theatres, conducted a managers’ meeting and luncheon for the circuit’s Mas¬ sachusetts managers. Attending were Sam Feldman, Larry Nason, Nat Levin, and Al Arzigian. Theatre maintenance, personnel supervision, concessions, and operating ex¬ penses were discussed, as well as the im¬ portant topic of the proper handling and care of in-car heaters. . . . Lloyd Patriquin has been named manager, Strand, Woburn, recently taken over by the Ray Feeley Cir¬ cuit. . . . Amalia Gori, formerly with D. C. Heath Publishers, is the new secretary to Bill Kumins at Warners, replacing Peggy Keating Bonvouloir, who has resigned to await the stork. . . . Henry Testa, chief pro¬ jectionist, Exeter Street, for the past 20 years, has decided to move his family to the west coast where he will enter the TV engineer¬ ing field in the Los Angeles area. He is a brother of Joe Testa, installation manager of Massachusetts Theatre Equipment Company. BUFFALO The Council of Motion Picture Organiza¬ tions has sent a citation to members of the Buffalo exchange area COMPO publicity committee praising the members for “their perfect score on the publication of the COM¬ PO stories thus far distributed.” The com¬ mittee is made up of William Dipson, Dipson Theatres, Batavia, N.
