LOS ANGELES — Pacific Drive-In Theatres announced ground breaking and start of con¬ struction on a new 1500-car drive-in to be named the Canoga Park.
With its completion and opening now set for Easter, this newest installation will mark the 39th drive-in theatre operating under the Pacific banner in Southern California.

NEW YORK — C. J. Chapman, vice presi¬ dent-marketing of National Carbon Company, division of Union Carbide Corporation, has announced the appointment of J. S. Copley to the newly-created position of manager of personnel development.
Reporting directly to Chapman, Copley will be responsible for recruiting and training new marketing department personnel, and for administering the company’s comprehen¬ sive personnel development program for field representatives, technical service personnel, and division managers throughout the mar¬ keting organization.
CHICAGO — George Kerosotes, board chair¬ man, Theatre Owners of America, predicts that hard-tops and drive-ins will arrange new and additional comfort features for patrons early this year.
BOSTON — The Baylies Square, New Bed¬ ford, is being completely renovated from seats to screen. 70mm projection equipment is also being installed. To be opened in April, the theatre will take a new name. The Arcade. Policy will change from a subsequent to a first-run house.
NEW YORK — A new leasing plan specially designed for motion picture producers, thea¬ tres, TV stations, industrial film producers, film laboratories, etc., is being introduced by S.O.S. Cinema Supply Corp. An eight page booklet entitled “How Leasing Can Increase Your Profits” is available. The booklet ex¬ plains many new features and the advantages over conventional renting plans, and why, in some instances, it is more economical under this plan to lease equipment than to own it outright.

The renovations include a completely new Cararra glass front, a new marquee, new seating, and new drapes. Improvements were keyed to the rapidly ex¬ panding student population of the Pennsyl¬ vania State University, located in town.
DURHAM, N.C. — The Dilworth, Charlotte, completed a refurbishing program, including new lobby, new concession stand, new car¬ peting, new lighting, and numerous other new or remodeled features for maximum patron appeal.
