Columbus Wants To Know COLUMBUS, O. — LeRoy Griffith an¬ nounced he would attempt to sidestep the city’s newly-enacted anti-burlesque ordi¬ nance by changing the title of his shows scheduled for the South Side film house, the Parsons, starting Oct. 7. He will offer sex films and live entertainment under the “Follies” title. Griffith’s change in title confused city officials, who had slammed the door on burlesque houses by unanimously adopt¬ ing an ordinance banning burlesque thea¬ tres within one mile of a church or school. City Attorney Russell Leach said the city would have to wait until opening night of the “Follies” to determine whether the show comes under the burlesque defi¬ nition. Griffith said the new operation will feature girls, comedy and vaudeville with a new stage revue and film each week. Film fare will carry the “adults only” tag with the emphasis on nudist movies, he said. Todd-AO Names Three New Vice Presidents NEW YORK — Three new vice-presidents were elected by the Todd-AO Corporation, at a recent meeting of the board of directors. The newly elected officers are A. E. Bollengier, who up to this time has served as treasurer; Joseph M. Reelected were George P. Skouras, president; George J. Solomon, secretary; and Martin Kasman, assistant treasurer. Bollengier submitted a six months’ opera¬ tions report for Todd-AO for the period ended July 31, 1960, which indicated that the company showed a profit of $100,000. He also stated that for the balance of the year, an additional $150,000 profit is anticipated. Todd-AO issued a license to 20th-Fox for “Cleopatra,” the seventh motion picture to be produced in the Todd-AO system. The board also authorized the issuance of a license to Magna Pictures for its forthcoming produc¬ tion which will portray the life and times of Constantine and Helena of the Roman Empire.
