WITH THEATRE FOLK OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY
BEING ADVISED by S. A.
Seifert, secretary of Local 203, IATSE & MPMO, that the local and the theatre managers of Easton, Pa., were about of call a meeting December 18, of all projectionists and managers of the Lehigh Valley "in honor of F. H. Richardson and his work in years past in raising projection standards to higher level," and that I would be expected to address the gathering, I of course made it my business to be there. I was surprised and indeed gratified to find fully 50 managers and projectionists gathered about a breakfast table at the Hotel Easton.
Brother Seifert acted as chairman, and at the speaker's table were officials of all local unions located in the Lehigh Valley. I talked to the gathering along the lines of better co-operation between the manager's office and projection room. Easton, Allentown, Bangor, Penn Argyl, Bethlehem, and Nazareth, Pa., and Phillipsburg, Belvedere and Washington, N. J., were represented.
Discussion was invited by Mr. Seifert, which resulted in a proposal that, there being four local unions in the Lehigh Valley, a similar meeting be held every three months, to talk over mutual interests. The proposal was looked upon with favor by both managers and representatives of the various locals present.
Others among those present at this initial meeting were the following (there being some fifteen present whose names I failed to obtain) :
J. F. Osterstock, J. H. Manry, Henry D. Behr, E. M. Black, James Dowling, K. S. Mack, H. A. Thomas, Harry Styers, J. W. McCraken, R. Frankfield, B. Corden, E. P. Rudlin, E. Roberts, G. W. Buss, H. W. Mcllroy, H. J. Schmieder, H. A. Bortz, J. L. Rau, W. W. Wehr, H. C. Conrad, G. J. Talotta, A. Gmiter, P. Lieser, E. Ott, N. Schultz, E. Peters, F. W. Lee, J. Urban, J. Anascarago, J. S. Findley, E. P. Rice, G. Miller, H. Hartzell, R. Rothenback, H. Wartzell, N. J.
