MICRO-SWITCH ADDED TO IMPROVE OPERATION
the benefit of superior operation made possible by foot-operated changeovers not infrequently carries with it the hazard of an accidental changeover ate the wrong time, resulting from unintentional kicking or jostling of the switch as it lies on the floor. Momentary heedlessness of the projectionist in moving some types of floor switch units in the course of threading or between-reel repairs can similarly interrupt a show. With the common mercury-type switch it is not necessary that the SAvitch be thrown to create trouble.

Accidental glass breakage is another hazard to which mercury switches are subject, and which tends to offset their other advantages. Lastly, these switches, excellent as they are for many purposes, are

not ideally adapted to work requiring extremely fast response, because their action depends on the flow of a heavy liquid.
With these considerations in mind GoldE Manufacturing Company have equipped their latest automatic changeovers and automatic rewinders with a new form of swtiching unit known as the micro-switch. These units are so designed that changeover controls can be intentionally moved or even kicked, or taken off the floor and set elsewhere, without danger of accidental response. The action for operation must be positive, or the switch remains inert. Nevertheless, the micro-switch action is so sensitive, when intentionally operated, that it has been added to the GoldE automatic rewinder.
