52 MOTION PICTURE H ERALD July 3, 1943 EXPLOITATION. LOBBIES Girl drill team and Fife and Drum Corps stopped traffic at the Century, Buffalo, for "Spitfire" premiere. Street ballyhoos like the -one used Joe Longo for Loew's, in Boston, are inexpensive and usually draw attention by Bob Maynard reports that this trick lobby display drew plenty of attention from patrons at the Tivoli, Saskatoon, Canada. This unusual gag submitted by Harold Lyon, was used at the Palace theatre, Burlington, la. The idea may be used in conjunction with any outstanding picture. Here's an economical gag used by Sam Fitzimmons at the Rialto, East Rochester. Note the clever tie-in on Father's Day which coincided with picture's playdate. Joe Lee, Fabian publicity director in Brooklyn, knows that people like to gape. This display from Bendix Aviation Corp. was tied in with "Action in the North Atlantic" at the Fox theatre.
