Two Theatres To Reopen In Massachusetts The Straight Wharf theatre in Nantucket and the Casino theatre in Newport, Mass., will reopen this summer on the straw hat circuit, according to the managements of both theatres. "Claudia" will be the Casino's first offering in a season running nine weeks with nightly performances Monday through Saturday with a matinee on Thursday. "Without Love" has been scheduled at the Casino for July 12th. Robert Sheehan, Boston Manager, Dies Robert M. Sheehan, 73, manager of the Colonial theatre in Boston until his retirement about three years ago, died on June 22nd in Boston after a long illness. He had managed the Tremont theatre in Boston for some time before taking over the post at the Colonial. He is survived by his widow, Mary; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Morrisey, and two sons, Paul and Albert. John Ludwig John Ludwig, 53, owner of the Roosevelt theatre in Milwaukee, and the Melvan theatre in Hollywood, died June 22nd in Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, Hollywood, of pneumonia. His widow, a son, Victor, and two daughters, Edith and Mrs. Florence Miller, survive. Richard D. Kenny Richard D. Kenny, 29, of the Marine Corps, died in a Jap prison camp, according to notice received in Chicago from the War Department. He was a brother of Mrs. Victor Noonan, head of the billing department of the Warner Bros. Circuit Management Corporation in Chicago. He was captured in China about seven months ago. Sergeant Joseph F. Cirino Funeral services will be held in Wilmington, Del., this week, for Sergeant Joseph F. Cirino, 21, former student assistant at Loew's Aldine theatre. Sergeant Cirino was among five members of the crew of a Flying Fortress killed when it crashed near Dyersburg, Tenn., last Wednesday. He is survived by his widow and his mother. John Donald Harrold John Donald Harrold, manager of the Giant theatre, Conshohocken, Pa., died June 21st at the Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr, Pa., following several weeks' illness. His widow, Alice, and two sisters survive. R. L. Bossert Private R. L. Bossert, former Eastman Kodak employee, was killed in an accident in North Africa, it was learned this week in Rochester. New York War Film Library Stocks 140 Pictures The Office of War Training of the New York State War Council has established a war film library consisting of 140 different films comprising 1,350 prints on all phases of civilian defense, morale building, etc. located at the New York City Division of War Training on Broadway. Dr. John J. Furia will supervise the department. Any city department may exhibit the films and a projector and operator will be supplied, according to Albert H. Hall, state director. Handel with Research Bureau Audience Research, Inc., founded by Dr. George H. Gallup in 1936, has research headquarters in Princeton, N. J. Dr. Leo Handel, inadvertently identified in the June 26th issue of Motion Picture Herald as head of Audience Research, is not connected with the company but heads the Motion Picture Research Bureau in New York. Wounded in Pacific Hollis Sweeney, formerly on the staff of the Poli theatre in Hartford, Conn., has been reported wounded in action, and taken to a hospital on Guadalcanal.
