Neithe Mr. Petrillo nor any AFM official appeared befor the committee. Representative Clarence J. Brown of Ohio, tol his colleagues on the committee : "Petrillo has bee asking for it and it's about time Congress let hir have it." He flayed Mr. Petrillo for "showing th same defiant attitude toward Congress that h recently exhibited toward President Roosevelt, referring to the AFM refusal to comply with th President's request last year to lift the union ba on recording. The basis of the proposed legislation is a bi passed by the Senate, but several amendments re defining and strengthening restrictions were sug gested and put in the record for further discussioi Joseph F.
