Guernsey, resident of General Television Corporation and by 0th Century-Fox. The film company has announced that it will pply for an experimental license to operate the tation, with experimental programing and the use f sound films forming the first phase of the teleision activities. Mr. Guernsey has suggested the combination of notion picture films with a studio commentary in elevision programs as the possible type of news overage of the future. News cameramen would ie equipped with motion picture cameras so that Deal happenings could be portrayed on home teleision screens much in the manner of newreels. Mame Film Classics Managers In New York and Buffalo Irving Wormser, eastern sales manager of Film lassies, last week announced appointments of two iranch managers, in New York and in Buffalo. Seymour Schusel, for a long time with the Columbia exchange in New York, was named (ranch manager in that city. Leon Herman, for nany years salesman with United Artists in the 3uffalo territory, takes over the Film Classics exchange there. Film Classics has obtained a franchise in the ■'hiladelphia area for English films and will begin mmediate handling of the product there in addiion to the exchange's current lineup, according o an announcement by Jack Engel, Philadelphia >ranch manager. The first group of English films ncludes "Thunder Rock," "On Approval," "The Randolph Family," "The Great Mr. Handel," 'Secret Mission," and "They Met in the Dark." Calvin C. Leeder, formerly Warner branch ofice manager in Cincinnati, and before that associited with Warners, in Chicago, has been appointed nanager of the Cincinnati branch of Film Classics )y Albert Dezel, franchise holder for Detroit, Cleveland and Cincinnati. fwo Succeed Stein Al Weinberg and Arline Callies, assistants in he Chicago zone publicity department for Warner rheatres, have taken charge of that department, following the resignation of Larry Stein, for 14 fears head of advertising and publicity, who is opening his own advertising agency in that city. Charles Ryan, assistant zone manager, will act in i supervisory capacity over that department.
