A solv'ent evaporates from a wick or liner inside the container, and the vapor produced by the solvent penetrates the brush and dissolves the bindinji oils or resins in paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer or shellac. It is this vapor that keeps the paint brushes soft and always ready to use, according to the manufacturer. All natural bristle and nylon brushes can be stored in the unit, it is stated. Constructed of heavy-gauge metal, the container is portable and is equipped to hold 8 sixinch brushes or 12 to 14 smaller brushes. It stands 15 inches high. The solvent is available in pints and quarts, the manufacturer states. New System to Control Cooling Unit Corrosion MiCROMET PLATES designed to control scale and corrosion in the recirculating cooling water systems of air conditioning, refrigeration and other cooling equipment have been placed on the market by Calgon, Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa. In addition the company has announced two other products developed for treatment of cooling water systems. The “Micromet Plates” are described as a new plate form of Micromet, the slowly-soluble phosphate used in granulated form to inhibit scale and corrosion in cooling towers, water heaters and other waterbearing equipment. Up to 10 pounds of the plates may be put in a plastic mesh feeding bag, which is hung directly in the water spray inside the cooling tower or the evaporative condenser. This is said to eliminate water lines or special plumbing. One or two bags of plates are used for each 20 tons of capacity, and a single charge will last six months, according to the manufacturer. The plates are available in 5pound cans and 100-pound drums. 4'he “Calgon Scale Remover” is an inhibited acid in powder form for removing scale from cooling tow'er and evaporative condenser systems. A built-in pH indicator changes the color of the water to show how much scale removed is needed. The compound is available in 10-pound cans and 100-pound drums. “Calgon Algaecide” is a concentrated dry material compounded in pellet form. Designed to stop algae and slime bacteria growths, it is sold in 2-pound cans. H A nev/ carpet line made of ''Nylwood, ' v/hich is a blend of nylon and wool manufactured by Alexander Smith, has been announced for distribution by National Theatre Supply. The new carpet quality will be available in specially designed patterns only (see illustrations), according to J. W. Servies, vice-president and manager of National's Carpet Department.
