Von Stroheim directed with John Emerson formerly, and has worked much with Mr. Griffith also, as well as written several successful screen dramas. Just before the close of the war, our Government invited him to enter the Intelligence Department because his knowledge of foreign affairs was of great value to this country, and the fact that he speaks a number of languages would make him a good interpreter.
