March i o , 1923 1157 Emil Meusel Plays in "You Know Me, Al!" Emil Meusel, hero of the last World Series between the New York Giants and Yankees, has joined the ranks of the movie actors. The announcement states he has signed with Lee Mo ran to play a leading part in the Ring Lardner " You Know Me, Al ! " stories which the comedian is producing at Universal City. With Meusel and Moran in the picture is an ex-Giant star, Mike Donlin> who was the leading figure in the first World Series in 1905. Arvid Gilstrom, director of the pictures, states Meusel is an ideal camera type and can " troupe " with the best of them. Before returning East Meusel will consider an offer made him by Moran to return to Hollywood after the next season. William H. Crane Cast in "Three Wise Fools" The veteran stage actor, William H. Crane, has been engaged by Goldwyn Pictures Corporation to act the role of the Judge in the picturization of " Three Wise Fools," by Austin Strong, author of " Seventh Heaven.' King Vidor is directing this production with a cast which embraces, besides Mr. Crane, Claude Gillingwater in his original role in the stage production, that of Theodore Finley; AlecFrancis as Dr. Gaunt;' Brinsley Shaw as Benny the Duck; Eleanor Boardman in the leading feminine role; and Zasu Pitts. Scenes from "Luck," a new feature cm C. C. Burr's "Big Six" program for the Independent market. It features Johnny HJr.es' Chas. Jones to Be Starred in "Snowdrift" Charles Jones will be starred in a srreen version of the James B. Hendryx story, " Snowdrift." It is a tale of the Great Northwest laid among the picturesque scenes about the Mackenzie River. The author of the story has written a number of romances of the West, including " The Promise," " The Gun Brand " and " The Gold Girl." Burr fs Sales Representative to Tour South Lester F. Scott, Jr., general sales representative for C. C. Burr, president of the Mastodon Films, Inc., will be off in a few days with prints of the three latest Burr features. These are " The Last Hour," featuring Milton Sills and Carmel Myers ; " You Are Guilty," with James Kirkwood and Doris Kenyon, and Johnny Hines' latest feature comedy called " Luck." Mr. Scott will visit all the salient points of the Southern territory. "Fourth Musketeer" to Be F.B. O. March Release Johnnie Walker in " The Fourth Musketeer," a Cosmopolitan Magazine story by H. C. Witwer, in which the star is assisted by Eileen Percy as leading lady, will be a March feature release of the Film Booking Offices of America. " The Fourth Musketeer " is a comedy drama including a prize-ring sequence in which the star goes through three rounds with William Scott as opponent. " The Fourth Musketeer" is distinct from Witwer's previous works. William Kerrigan Howard directed. The screen adaptation was made by Paul Schofield, and William O'Connell was behind the camera. Ince Purchases Rights to "Just and Unjust" Thomas H. Ince has purchased the film rights of " The Just and Unjust," the latest and most popular novel of Vaugham Kester. Bradley King, of the Ince writing staff, will adapt the novel to the screen. Simultaneously with the release of the picture, planned as one of the big features of Mr. Ince's fall releasing program, a special motion picture edition of the novel will be put out by the Bobbs Merrill Publishing Company. Scenes from the S-L Production, "Your Friend and Mine," by Willard Mack. Released by Metro Pictures Corporation Griffith May Lease Studio to Richard Barthelmess D. W. Griffith, who is in the South making scenes for his forthcoming photoplay " The White Rose," may lease his Maniaroneck studios to Richard Barthelmess. Because of existing contracts Mr. Barthelmess either has to go to Fort Lee or California to continue work on his own forthcoming picture, it is stated, unless he can get space from Mr. Griffith at Mamaroneck.
