(Middle West.) The World's Applause — Interesting. Did better than average. (Middle West.) Fair picture and business normal. The White Flower — . Fine feature, in which Betty Compson did good work. Cast excellent. Hawaiian shots good. Business excellent. (Middle West.) Very good picture. Did good business. (West.) Making a Man — Picture and business both fair. (East.) When all other houses maintained a good average, this house showed a slack business. Just why isn't known, as those who saw the picture went to the trouble to express themselves as pleased. (Middle West.) Java Head — Average picture ; better than average attraction, as star is popular. My American Wife — Gloria Swanson has a distinct following. Also this play was well liked. The combination made for better business than we have been seeing of late. (Middle West.) This one did a good week's business. (Middle West.) Drums of Fate — Attendance held up good all week. The Voice from the Minaret — Nothing out of the ordinary as production, but the kind of picture that hits popular chord. Norma Talmadge is a big drawing card and did good business with it. (Middle West.) A Question of Honor — Mediocre picture and business under average. Mighty Lak a Rose — This proved a fine audience picture with lots of heart interest and our patrons liked it. Went over big. (Middle West.) What a Wife Learned — Picture with average amount of entertainment value. Played to fair business. (Middle West.) The Infidel Picture only mediocre and business bad. UNIVERSAL Forsaking All Others — A very nice picture. Story somewhat old. Very good receipts. (Middle West.) The Ghost Patrol — Gets by without kick, but does not come in for a lot of praise. (West.) The Flame of Life — Attracted very satisfactory results for a seven dav run. Well liked by press and public. (East.) The Prisoner — Good melodrama. Our patrons liked it. Big business, especially matinees. (Middle West.) The Flirt — A wonderful drawing card. Cast is excellent. Did a fine business. (Middle West.) The Power of a Lie — Good drawing power — that's the truth. (West.) GOLDWYN The Christian — A film masterpiece. Lived up to advance claims. Audiences proclaimed it one of the best in years. Excellent returns. (Middle West.) Rroken Chains — Fair picture and business up to par. (East.) FOX Nero — An average week's business ; not as good as expected. (Middle West.) The Town That Forgot God — Fair picture and business only fair. (East.) The Lights of New York — A misleading title. There is nothing but shadows in this average picture. Business good because of supplementary attractions. Held it over for a second week and it went bigger than ever. A 100 per cent picture. Even the ministers boost it. (Middle West.) VITAGRAPH A Front Page Story — A good average picture. It went across in fine style and have no complaint about business done. (Middle West.) METRO Quincy Adams Sawyer — Fair picture and business normal. (East.) Fairly good business. Average business. (Middle West.) This was the kind of business that warmed the heart of the manager. Toll of the Sea — Try this one out and boost your business. (West.) UNITED ARTISTS Tess o' the Storm Country — Took this old town by storm and jammed them to the tune of the S. R. O. for a solid week. (East.) One Exciting Night — Played to good business over four weeks' run. (Middle West.) Douglas Fairbanks in Robin Hood — First week fine, held over for second week and business kept management guessing whether to hold it for another. Business grew nght along, including the day it was taken off. (Middle West.) Wonderful production — 100 per cent entertainment. People coming again and again to see it. As many in the lobby as in the house for every performance at end of second week. We shall hold it indefinitelv. (Middle West.) PAT HE Dr. Jack — Started in middle of week to finish out after a picture that was held over. This comedy won favor right off. Fine business Saturday and nothing to kick about earlier. Seems to be a favorite. (Middle West.) WARNER RROTHERS Heroes of the Street — A great picture for the kids as well as the grownups. Businescapacity. (East.) The Beautiful and Damned — The flappers came to see this and so did everyone else. Business was good all week. Seemed to prove generally a hit. (Middle West.) HODKINSON Bulldog Drummond — A thriller that held up fairly well for the week. (East.) F. B. O. The Third Alarm — " Sure fire " tie up with the fire department and over she soes. (West.) ASSO. EXHIBITOR Conquering the Woman — Picture and business onlv fair. (Middle West.) Picture mediocre and business not so good. (East.) ALLIED P. & D. Salome — Unusual picture and business good. (East.) STATE RIGHTS Surefire Flint — A good audience picture, full of action, with lots of laughs. Critics and patrons all praised it.
