1476 Motion Picture News N. Y. Members of Dealers Ass'n Make Credit and Standardization Ratings AN exceedingly important step has been taken by the New York zone members of the Association of Motion Picture Equipment Dealers of America through the formation by them of a local organization for the standardization of motion picture supplies. The principle on which this sub-organization has been formed should prove a decided benefit to everyone who has any connection with motion picture supplies as it will tend to put this phase of the industry on a sound business basis. A movement such as this should be welcomed by the exhibitor as well as the supply dealers. Hoy's Service has been retained by this local association in their effort to stabilize the credit which is to be given theatres and to accelerate the payment of overdue accounts which may be owing concerns belonging to the association. The interchange of credit information will also be available for the members. It is the intention of the local association to give theatres in the New York zone a credit raring in a general way according to their size and standing, thus placing the various theatres on the basis of an individual business concern. Also of decided advantage to the exhibitor is the fact that standard prices are to be maintained on standard equipment which will tend to assure the exhibitor of the real value of his purchases. In many instances this standardization of prices, it is reported, has made the universal accepted prices a reduction over those previously in vogue. Such standard practices should prove to the advantage of everyone concerned. Also a definite allowance on second hand supplies has been made by the national association so that various apparatus be valued for exchange purposes according to age and usage. This new camera is called the " Regal " and it is claimed that it meets in a satisfactory way the important items such as cost, size, weight and at the same time registers exceedingly good pictures. The Regal camera uses Eastman's Standard film and is daylight loading, the reels being of a 50 foot capacity and permits making 800 separate still pictures or continuous film of short scenes or complete scene of 50 feet in motion. Major & Company have reported that tliey have developed a new condenser system which consists of one unit instead of the common practice of two.
