"Chop Suey Louie" Is Joe Rock's Next The seventh two-reeler to be released by Jo Rock Productions, starring Joe Rock, the independent comic, is " Chop Suey Louie." As the title indicates, the locale of the subject is Chinatown, where, as the subtitle says, " every pool player carries his own cue." An extra effort to stage the scenes and dress the large cast in faithful oriental fashion has been made. Sixty extras appear in the mob scenes, and a complete Chinese colony, with temples, dens and innumerable coolies, has been supplied to give reality to the setting. Billic Rhodes carries the feminine honors, with Frank Alexander filling the fat man's role and Max Asher lending his bit to muddle things up. Thrills have not been forgotten in Rock's capers. Mad rides on treacherous ginrickshaws, mob fights and dare-deviltry that makes even a Chinaman's cue stand on end is plentifully supplied. The mystery and melodrama element is generously injected, with a succession of trap doors, sudden apparitions and self-closing doors in abundance. Rock's comedies are being distributed by Jo Rock Productions. State rights on the series have been almost entirelv sold. International News No. 24: — Nome, Alaska, girl drivers race in Alaskan Dog Classic; Mitchell Field, L. I., army aviators in first "air transfer" tests; Landerdale, Fla., President's house-boat trapped on sand-bar; Washington, D. The picture is a " lion comedy," in which about a dozen lions chase Conley around a motion picture studio. White made his reputation with Fox producing lion comedies, and claims that he has outdone himself in " Kick Out."
