Century's Ambitious Schedule Improved Product and Novelty Innovations Promised in Fifty-Two for New Season CENTURY FILM CORPORATION has an ambitious schedule of Century Comedies for the 1925-26 season with a declared improvement in production and a number of novelty innovations. There are fifty-two of these comedies on the list, one for each week in the year. A grouping of the season's output into star series is among the innovations. The . pictures made by each star, such as Wanda Wiley, Edna Marian and others will -be considered as separate brands. Another innovation was the acquisition of the screen rights for a novelty series of two-reel comedies. This is the Buster Brown Comedy Series, being made from the newspaper eartoons of R. F. Outcault. The Century schedule shows a contemplated release of 52 comedies, one a week during the period from August 5th, 1925, to July 28th, 1926. In addition, there will be a Century special production, "Little Red Riding Hood." This is a novelty two-reeler made with Peter the Great and Baby Peggy. It is scheduled for release November 21st. The 52 Centuries consist of a series of twelve Buster Brown Century Comedies,x a series of twelve Wanda Wiley-Century Comedies, a series of twelve Edna MarianCentury Comedies, six comedies featuring Eddie Gordon, six featuring Al Alt and four featuring Charles King. The Buster Browns are being made by Charles Lamont, one of Century's veteran comedy directors. Little Arthur Trimble has the role of Buster, Doreen Turner plays Mary Jane and Pete, the comedy dog, plays Tige Buster's famous canine companion. The two Buster Brown comedies already completed are "Educating Buster" and "Buster Be Good." Sennett Adding Beauties to Roster Mack Sennett is continuously adding beautiful girls to the Sennett roster. He now lias eight under contract, five of whom have been signed in the past two months. Alice Day, Madeline Hurlock and Natalie Kingston have been appearing in PatheSennett comedies for over a year. The new girls recently signed to contracts are: Eugenia Gilbert, former bathing girl; Ruth Hiatt, leading ingenue with Harrv Langdon; Thelma Parr, playing leads with Ralph Graves; Ruth Taylor, with Billy Bevan in Del Lord comedies and Marion McDonald, a newcomer from Boston, who has just been given a contract. "Transients in Arcadia" is Finished by Fox "Transients in Arcadia," second of the series of 0. Henry stories, has been completed at the Fox West Coast Studios. The leading roles were played by Mary Akin and Hugh Allan. Daniel Keefe directed under the supervision of George T. Marshall. The scenario was by Beatrice Van. Fox Starts Third Story of O. Henry Series Production was started this week at the Fox West Coast studios on "FaUure," third of the two-reel comedies adapted from the 0. Henry short stories. Daniel Keefe, who made the first two, is again directing. Kathryn McGuire has the feminine lead and the principal male character is played by Harvey Clark. The other principals include Maine Geary, William Bakewcll, William Norton Bailey, Vivian Oakland and Roy Atwell. Fox Starts Production on Imperial Comedy A new Imperial Comedy has just been put into production at the Fox West Coast Studios under the working title of "All At Sea." Lew Seiler is directing this new short subject with Sid Smith and Judy King in the leading roles. The other principals are Stanley Blystone, James Farley and Nora Cecil. "Crying for Love" Current Century Release "Crying for Love" is the Century comedy for release this week through all Universal exchanges. Eddie Gordon is the featured player. The comedy was written and directed by Noel Smith. Blanche Payson plays opposite Gordon. "No Father To Guide Him" is a two-reel comedy from the Hal Roach studios with Charlie Chase featured.
