Pathe Makes Changes in Branch Managers Pathe has effected a number of changes in branch manager personnel. H. L. Knappen has been appointed manager at New Orleans, succeeding P. A. Schmuck, who has been transferred to the Charlotte branch, while E. E. Heller, formerly Charlotte branch manager, has been appointed special district serial representative. Seiler Starts Production on Fox Comedy "All at Sea," the latest Fox Imperial comedy has gone into production on the west coast under the direction of Lew Seiler with Sid Smith and Judy King in the leading roles. Stanley Blystone, James Farley and Nora Cecil have the chief supporting roles. Sees No Need to Change Name of Short Subjects THE agitation to find a new name for Short Subjects is aimless and mere wasted effort, according to an official of the Short Subject Division of Fox Film Corporation, who points out that "the changing of the class name will not change the quality of the films themselves." Declaring that the name Short Subjects has in no way interfered with the success of meritorious short pictures and has not proved a handicap to the "Van Bibber," "Helen and Warren," "O Henry," and other series offered by his company, the Fox official states that his organization is glad to foster "anything that will give the short subject its well earned place in the sun; that will bring in extra dollars at the box office through adequate advertising of the short screen offering." But he doubts strongly whether that end will be attained by lost motion in creating a new name for the short product, which, when found, will be little used. It is better, he states, to devise ways to help exhibitors in getting results from this class of product than to waste time over a name that will not give them ' any added value.
