Following this he has many adventures, and is placed in a position where he can avenge a man who has ruined his father financially. Francelia Billington plays the feminine lead, and the cast is made up of such well-known players as Wilbur Higby, Thomas Jefferson, Mark Robbins and others. Another five-reel picture taken up at U City last week, is titled " The Reward of the Faithless," which gives to Wedgwood Nowell a very excellent part with many decided dramatic situations. He takes the role of a handsome youth, who has several love affairs, but finally comes to a tragic end. This is an original scenario by a staff author, and besides Nowell, the principals appearing in this are Cleo Madison, Nick DuNaew, Dick Lareno and others. The story is laid in Russia and New York City, and a number of special sets will be required for its production, one being that of a street of a small Russian city. Johnson Featured in " Kingdom " Director Lloyd B. Carleton is now rehearsing players for the filming of a fivereel photodrama titled " Of Such Is the Kingdom of Heaven," written by a Los Angeles dramatic critic, Henry C. Warnack. Emory Johnson has a featured part in this, as has also Richard Morris, character actor. Director Raymond Wells is busy with the filming of " The Little Queen of Nowhere Land," with Ruth Stonehouse in the name part, Jack Mulhall in the opposite lead, and a cast which includes Jean Hersholt as the heavy, and other wellknown Universal players. It is the tale of adventure of an American cowboy, who becomes successful as a miner, and in seeking enjoyment after accumulating wealth, finds his way to the imaginary kingdom. There a condition almost equivalent to anarchy prevails, and the cowboy becomes the leader of the queen's army, and when he is successful in vanquishing the foe, he is declared the king. Director Wells is also the author of the story. A typical southwestern international border story is that titled " Mixed Blood," written by Willard Mack, with script by a Universal staff author. Charles Swickard has been place in charge of the filming of this five reeler, with George Beranger and Roy Stewart in the principal male parts, and Claire McDowell the leading woman. " The Last of the Morgans " is a tworeel story being produced by Director William V. Mong, who plays the title role, supported by Harry Holden, Nellie Allen and others. " The Amazing Adventure," adapted from a magazine story of the same name, and prepared for the screen by Harve\ Gates, has an unusual plot. The myster\ is not revealed until in the last few scenes of the picture. Roberta Wilson has the featured part. Director Allen Holubar has completed his character sketch two-reel picture, " The Old Toy-Maker," in which he takes the leading role, that of a German who came to America. His wife and child who followed later, were lost at sea. He made a doll to resemble, as nearly as he could re member, his little daughter, and he comes to worship this, especially in his dreams. This makes possible a number of fade-ins, which show a story of the heart throb type. Director Henry McRae is filming a tworeel scenario by William Parker, which contains a baffling murder mj-stery. It has been titled " The Hand In the Dark." E. N. Wallock takes the character part, Edith Johnson is the daughter, and Jack Kerrigan the lover. Messrs. Willis-VN'oods have supplied the Universal with a scenario titled " Dead O' Night," which Douglas Girrard is now producing. George Beranger appears as the son, Director Girrard as the heavy, the doctor, and Ruth Clifford takes the feminine lead. Upon the conclusion of this, Girrard will film "The Mouse," the title referring to a girl, a young man of wealth had taken from an orphanage and educated. Willard Wayne, Betty Schade, and Nanine Wright, support Ruth Clifford and Mr. Girrard in this short subject. " Lord Fairfax Visits America " is the title of a program, subject being made by Director Donald Donald, with Lee Hill, Lois Weber and Harry Carter as the principals. The latter appears as the lord who disguises, and has his secretary pretend he is the blue-blooded one. By this means he is able to find a desirable wife. George Cochrane has been busy for the past ten weeks, filming a decided melodrama entitled " Eleven to One." The twelve of the title refer to jurymen, the eleven being in favor of acquitting a man charged with murder, when the evidence is purely circumstantial. After being out eleven hours, the twelfth man becomes conscience stricken and admits his guilt. The principals in this are Jack Nellson, Burton Law, Charles Cummings, and Grace Bonyng. " Her Brother Was a Broker " Director John MacDermott is directing a Willis-Woods single-reel picture, titled " Her Brother Was a Broker." It is the story of a country girl going to the city to find her brother, and there becomes the victim of white slavers. " Beau Brummell Junior " is the title given a two-reel college life comedy by Bess Meredyth. The principals are Carter and Mrs. Flora Parker DeHaven. It pertains to an American youth, disowned by his parents, because of college escapades, going to South America, and there making good from the start, and by accident, and then there is a meeting of father and son, former sweethearts, and the romance goes on. Director W. W. Beaudine has in the past three weeks filmed three single-reel comedies, " His First Arrest," " Lashed by Love," and " Bombs and Business." Lillian Peacock and Gale Henry were injured while making a scene showing an automobile going over a cliff for the making of " Bombs and Business." Miss Peacock sustained a fractured wrist, and Miss Henry's knee was badly wrenched. Director Stuart Paton is still on the two-reel mystery story, " The Voice on the Wire," which has Ben Wilson and Neva Gerber as principals. Hobart Henley will direct and play the lead in the making of the film version of the Willard Mack story " Little Italy." Gertrude Selby will be his leading woman. Rupert Julian has completed the filming of " We Are French," and is now preparing scenario for a multiple reel feature " The Mistress." Julian himself will play a leading part, but the other members of the cast have not been selected.
