Among the first run of R-C Pictures during the past two weeks is the booking of Sessue Hayakawa in " Where Lights Are Low " at the Capitol theatre on Broadway, New York. Four first run houses in Atlanta recently played R-C Pictures during the same week. " Good Women " was shown at the New Metropolitan, " Live and Let Live " at the Howard, " See My Lawyer " at Loew's Strand and " Mistress of Shenstone " at the Tudor. The California theatre in Los Angeles recently played " Salvage " and " One Man in a Million," while the California theatre in San Francisco played " Salvage," " Black Roses " and " Cold Steel," with Tally's theatre playing " Seven Years Bad Luck." Libson's first-run houses in Cincinnati have played " Live and Let Live," " Nobody's Kid," " Black Roses," " Salvage " and " Cold Steel." In Buffalo Shea's Hippodrome recently played " Salvage," the Strand played " Black Roses " and the Olympic " Seven Years Bad Luck," " Good Women," " What's A Wife Worth?" and " If Women Only Knew." The Beacon theatre in Boston presented " Salvage " as a first-run attraction. " Live and Let Live " was given a firstrun showing at Loew's State theatre in Cleveland. The Palace theatre in Washington did big business with " Salvage " and " Black Roses." In Pittsburgh " Salvage " was given a first-run showing at the Blackstone theatre. The Regent and Picadilly theatres in Rochester recently played " Salvage " and " Black Roses." Loew's State theatre in Indianapolis recently played " Salvage," " Seven Years Bad Luck " and " Black Roses." In Denver " Seven Years Bad Luck " was shown at the American, and the Tabor showed " Good Women," " Beach of Dreams," " What's A Wife Worth?" and " If Women Only Knew." In Salt Lake City " Salvage " and " Black Roses " had their premier showing at the American theatre. In St. Louis the Skouras Circuit have been showing " Salvage," " Live and Let Live," and " If Women Only Knew." In the Northwest, Jensen and Von Herbig Circuits have booked all the R-C productions for their circuit of theatres. The Pantages Circuit have also booked a number of R-C Pictures for first-runs for their entire circuit. The Adams theatre in Detroit recently played " Salvage." Christie Plans Expansion Contemplates " Greater Series " as Result of New Educational Contract New portrait of Corinne Griffith, Vitagraph star Foreign Territory Sold on Snooky Comedies The Chester Comedies featuring Snooky, the Chimpanzee, have been sold to further foreign territory. Contracts for the Republic of Panama have recently been executed and shipments made; and also for Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Robert W ilcox is the distributor in the case of Panama while the Argentinian distributor is Corporation Argentina Americana de Films, Buenos Aires, which organization, through its president, Dr. R. S. Naon, and general manager, Agusto Alvarez, also closed with the Yogel organization for a long period deal on the W. W. Hcdkinson Corporation features, covering seven South American republics it is announced. "CamiHe" Released in Fall by Metro " Camille," with Xazimova in the titular role, will be released in the fall by Metro. " Camille " was adapted for the screen by June Mathis. Ray C. Smalhvood directed. Rudolph Bergquist photographed it. Joseph Calder took charge of the technical direction. The role of Armand Duval is taken by Rudolph Valentino, and the other members of the supporting cast include Arthur Hoyt, Zeffie Tillbury, Rex Cherr.vman, Edward Connelly, Ruth Miller, Consuelo Flowerton, Mrs. Oliver and William Orlamond. WITH the signing of a new contract which will give to Educational Film Exchanges the exclusive distribution of Christie Comedies for a long period of time, Al Christie, president and producing head of the latter organization, has already made farreaching plans for a greater series of Christie films to follow those which Educational has distributed with eminent success. "Educational has given a fresh impetus to quality production of comedy in the past year," says Al Christie. "While we previously distributed our own product through the medium of the independent exchanges, we were reaching the best of theatres. But it remained for Educational with its 36 offices in the United States and Canada, selling short subjects exclusively to give a 100 per cent distribution of our product. The film business men at the head, were doing their utmost to call the attention of the exhibiting world to the fact that Educational stands for the best in comedies and other short subjects, gave us an enthusiasm for doing our share and holding up the producing end as never before. "Now that we are to be associated for a long-term contract with Educational, we are going to make greater efforts than ever to lead the two-reel comedy field." " Brownie," the Century wonder dog, does a love scene of his own Gottschalk to Do Music Score for Pickford The music for Mary Pickford's "Little Lord Fauntleroy" will be written by Louis Gottschalk, now preparing a synchronization for Fairbanks' "The Three Musketeers," according to an announcement from the United Artists Corporation. Gottschalk has been busy for the past two weeks with the instrumental arrangement for the Fairbanks production and will undoubtedly be occupied for at least another fortnight with this task, hut because of the fact that the Pickford picture will be released a month later than "The Three Musketeers," Gottschalk finds that he will have ample time in which to handle both productions. BarrettMcCormickHost to Thos.Mott Osborne Thomas Mott Osborne, who is the author of the big picture, entitled "The Right Way," which deals with conditions as they exist today behind the prisons of the United States, is in Cleveland this week as the special guest of Mr. Barrett McCormick, managing director of the handsome Allen Theatre, the Osborne production being the main attraction at the Allen for the ensuing week. Mr. McCormick is showing Mr. Osborne how special exploitation can be given his picture by a local crew of publicity experts and special stunt creators. "The Right Way" will be at the Allen all this week. Exhibitor Aids Prepared for Goldwyn Week Goldwyn Distributing Corporation is preparing a most complete list of exhibitor aids, for use in connection with Goldwyn Week, October 23rd. They are to be given free to exhibitors who set aside the last week in October for the showing of Goldwyn pictures.
