Kolas plays, the part of Colonel de Limousin. The role of Jeanne is played by the celebrated Russian actress, Mme. Nathalie Kovanko. Paul Hubert is seen as the Colonel's orderly. All three of these principals are said to have established a reputation for clever acting in the best theatres of the French capital. The release date will be announced by Pathe shortly. TeaserPoster Display for "Molly O" Teaser exploitation on Mack Sennett's "Molly O" with Mabel Normand was started this week by Associated Producers, Inc., with the sending out of 10,000 one sheet posters to the various e-xchanges of the distributing organization. The posters will be used on all the obtainable stands in the key cities in the respective territories and in many other exhibiting territories through arrangements with exhibitors who have already booked the production. Pauline Frederick Supporting Cast Named Director Colin Campbell has announced the cast for "The Lure of Jade," starring Pauline Frederick, the second of her starring vehicles for this year in R-C Pictures, as follows : Sara Vincent, by Pauline Frederick; Captain Louis Corey by Thomas Holding; Allan Corey, son of Capt. Corey, by Arthur Rankin ; Stuart Bercsford, to be played by Paul Nicholson ; Commodore Vincent, Sara's father, to be played by Hardy Kirkland ; Captain Willing to be played by Leon Barry and Aldins Corey. Louis Corey's wife, to be played by Clarissa Selwynne. Colin Campbell is the director. The story is by Marion Orth. Jim and Eddie Carrier Manage Koplar Chain Word has been received from St. Louis, Mo., to the effect that Jimme and Eddie Carrier have been appointed as the general-managers of the City Wide Amusement Company in that city. This company embraces the twenty-four theatres recently turned back to Harry Koplar by the Famous Players-Lasky organization. Fred C. Quimby (left) and Tex Rickard, distributors of the Dempsey-Carpentier fight pictures Increase in Pathe Bookings Home Office Reports Short Subjects and Serials to Be in Big Demand P ATHE reports that Independence Month is giving a strong additional impetus to bookings from its short-subject and serial list and that the list is so large and varied that several exhibitors in the same zone are able to enrich their programmes from it. As a matter of fact, there have been no restrictions on runs for some time on Pathe News, on Aesop's Film Fables, produced by Fables Pictures, Inc. and on Topics of the Day, produced by Timely Films, Inc.," declares the Pathe report. The advent of Independence Month has brought about an extra volume of orders for all of these subjects it is declared. There are also considerable bookings for the Harold Lloyd onereeler comedy re-issues, ten in number, being released weekly according to the statement. In this connection, there seems to be significance in the fact that the Gaylord Lloyd comedy series of one-reelers, made somewhat on the lines of these re-issues of his celebrated brother's highly effective short comedies, are being heavilj' booked throughout the country. The same good fortune is being shared by pictures in the Tom Santschi, "The .\dventures of Bill and Bob," and the Holman Day series, says Pathe. Right on the eve of Independence Month the Pathe announcement of the forthcoming release of a series of three Major Jack Allen Wild Animal Pictures, produced by Adventure Films, Inc., is bringing generous response from exhibitors, it is stated. The first of these, "Netting the Leopard," is scheduled for release on September 25th. Celebrities See Ibanez Film " Four Horsemen " Shown to Distinguished Audience at Washington OFFICIAL and diplomantic Washington turned out for the special showing of Ibanez's " The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse," the Rex Ingram production for Metro, when it was given Monday night as the feature of the Midsummer Night's party of the National Press Club Post, American Legion, at the Marine Barracks Parade Grounds. The guests included distinguished representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, Congress, the Army and Navy and Administratio'n officialdom. The Spanish Ambassador, Senor Don Juan Riano Gayangos, and his suits, were guests of honor. The guests were received by the Press Club committee that included Joseph M. Heller, Frank A. Connolly, W. A. Du Puy, Victor C. Kilberg and G. K. Shuler. Jack S. Connolly had arranged for the showing of " The Four Horsemen " through the courtesy of Metro Pictures Corporation. Charles Rosenzweig Now Sales Head for " U" M CHARLES ROSENZ. WEIG, heretofore sales manager of Jewel and features in the Big " U " (New York) branch exchange of the Universal Film Exchanges, Inc., has been made general sales manager for the Big " U " and hereafter will have complete charge of the Universal sales force in the New York territory. . In line with his new position, he has taken over the sale of all Universal short subjects, including Century Comedies, two-reel Western dramas, serials, Star Comedies and International News reels. Christie Comics Begun for Educational Titles and casts for the next three Christie Comedies to be produced under the new contract with Educational have been announced. They are the sixth, seventh and eighth pictures of the new series, and will follow " Exit Quietly," which has just been completed. The si.xth picture will be " A Pair of Sexes," and will feature Xeal Burns with Viora Daniel. The next picture will be " Pure and Simple," explained by the phrase, " She was pure, and he was simple." It will have as its featured player Bobby Vernon. " Saving Sister Susie " is the title of the eighth picture, which will feature Dorothy Devore, with Earl Rodney, Katharine Lewis, Eugenie Forde and others. " A Pair of Sexes " is directed by Frederic Sullivan; William Ecaunine is filming " Pure and Simple," and " Saving Sister Susie " is being made under the direction of Scott Sidnev. Houdini Engaged on Features, Not Serials The Houdini Picture Corporation calls attention to the fact that Houdini's current production activities are concerned with features and not serials. His first feature, which has just been completed, is titled "The Man from Beyond," while his second is temporarily called "Haldane of the Secret Ser\-ice." "Sting of the Lash" Is Scoring on Coast "The Sting of the Lash." an R-C Picture starring Pauline Frederick, which turned the crowds away from the California Theater for a week at Los Angeles, is running its second week at the Miller Theater, Los Angeles, to capacity houses.
