Margaret Loomis has been added to the cast of this production. Harry Lustig, the district manager of the Pacific Coast, has been called East to confer with the Metro heads concerning matters of distribution. Bayard Veiller is now engaged with the editing of " Lady Fingers. Viola Dana will next appear in " Glass Houses," an original screen photoplay written by Clara and Edith Kennedy. Harry Beaumont will direct Miss Dana in this subject. Alice Lake will next star in Fred Jackson's story " The Hole in the Wall." Maxwell Karger will direct this production. June Mathis is preparing the continuity for this subject. GQLDWYN Virginia Valli will play the leading feminine role in " His Back to the Wall " opposite Raymond Hatton. The rest of the cast includes Gordon Russell, Shannon Day, Will Walling, Fred Kohler, Jack Curtis, and Raymond Cannon. Rowland Lee, who is directing this subject, is now filming the initial scenes of this production at Randsburgh. Frank Lloyd is cutting " The Sin Flood." Gouverneur Morris is writing a Chinese fantasy, entitled " What Ho the Cook." The continuity is being prepared by Ruth Wightman. 1st NATIONAL " Man's Game," in which Catherine MacDonald is starred, has been changed in title to " The Woman's Side." Director J. A. Barry is now editing this production. R. A. Walsh, accompanied by the cast appearing in " Kindred of the Dust," will go north this coming week to film exteriors for this subject. Marshall Neilan is now selecting the members of the cast for " Penrod." Director Wesley Ruggles is at present engaged in the cutting of Oliver Morosco's " Slippy McGec." CHRISTIE "Pure and Simple" is the title of the new Bobby Vernon comedy directed by William Beaudine. Josephine Hill appears opposite Mr. Vernon. " Saving Sister Susie," with Dorothy Devore, Earl Rodney, and Catherine Lewis, is now being produced under the direction of Scotl Sidney. Construction work has been started on the new $10,000 concrete building which will house the cutting, projecting, and still-photography departments. Charlie Christie has arrived in London. LASKY A screen adaptation of Sir Gilbert Parker's story, " The Lane that riad No Turning," has been prepared to serve as a starring \ehicle for Agnes Ayers. Victor Fleming will direct this subject under the supervision of Rollin Sturgeon. William filming of adaptation DeMille has begun the " Miss Lulu Betts," an of Zona Gale's novel and prize play. The continuity was prepared by Clara Beranger. Lois Wilson and Milton Sills are playing the leading roles in this production. Roscoe Arbuckle's next screen vehicle, titled " The Melancholy Spirit," is based on an original story of a wild imaginative character. Director James Cruze is now selecting the members of the cast. Frank Woods will be the supervising director. The Jack Holt company is filming " The Call of the North " under the direction of Joe Henaberry. Madge Bellamy appears opposite Jack Holt in this subject. The company has left for a mammoth mountain lake where exteriors will be filmed. Rollin Sturgeon is the supervising director. In the filming of " Rent Free," in which Wallace Reil is starred, the tops of the studio buildings arc being used as sets. Howard Higgin is directing this subject under the supervision of Frank Woods. Lila Lee plays the leading female role opposite Mr. Reid. George Melford is filming " The Sheik," in which Agnes Ayers and Rudolph Valentino play the featured roles. The Robber City scenes are now being " Shot." Miss Ayers is recovering from her fight with four of the " slave ' characters. ROBERTSONCQLE The Pauline Frederick company has returned to Los Angeles from .San Diego where exteriors were taken at the United States Na\-y Yard for " The Lure of Jade " under the direction of Colin Campbell. The closing scenes for "The Foolish Age," the Hunt Stromberg production in which Doris May is starred, are being taken this week under the direction of William Seiter. An elaborate Chinese set is being Ifuilt for Sessue Hayakawa's "The .Street of the Flying Dragon." About forty candidates, all Chinese girls, have been given screen tests preliminary to the selection of the leadifig woman for this production. Louis J. Gasnier's company is now en route to Los Angeles from the Sierras where exteriors were made on location in the mountains for " Ma'mselle Jo'." A big street set has been constructed for the Gasnier company. HERE AND THERE George Beban will produce '' The Sign of the Rose " under the direction of Harry Garson at the Garson studio. The supporting cast will go later on a tour of personal appearances with Mr. Beban. Clara Kimball Young has completed " Xo Man Knows " by Sada Cowan. The supporting cast includes Lowell Sherman, Dorothy Wallace, W. P. Carleton, Dorothy Cooper, Baby Jean Carpenter, E. M. Kimball, Ruth Hanford, and Helen Hunt.
