The decorating is in a variety of creams, which are most restful and pleasing to the eye, giving one a sense of complete comfort. The drapings are in electric blue with tango trimmings, presenting a harmonious scheme for the various tints of cream which predominate in the decoration. The sounding board over the proscenium arch is equipped with ornamental lattice construction opening to the expression chambers of the Robert-Morton Organ. While the house is principally a motion picture house, it has a full stage equipment with foot and border lights of the latest design, permitting of the staging of vaudeville. The stage floor is fire-proof, as is the balance of the house and the dressing rooms behind the stage. The entire orchestra floor is without a post, doing away with the old time methods of obstructing vision. The proscenium part of the orchestra floor has been shaped so as to permit a full view of the screen from the most extreme seats in the house. The seating capacity of this floor is over 600. The mezzanine floor is taken up with box seats for the entire width of the house in front of the foyer. This mezzanine floor is extended on both sides of the wall with spacious wall boxes, providing approximately 200 box seats. The mezzanine floor can be approached by four distinct sets of fire-proof stairways. The boxes are furnished with large individual upholstered wicker chairs. The projection room is located immediately back of the mezzanine floor directly over the foyer. The room is equipped with the Type " S " motor driven Simplex machines. The throw to the Gold Fibre Screen is 106 ft. 4 inches. The Columbia is novel in that the projection machines are on a horizontal with the center of the screen, claimed by the Columbia people to be the only method by which undistorted picture can be thrown on the screen. The balcony can be approached by two distinct fire-proof stairways. It is built thoroughly fireproof and is equipped with the same comfortable chairs as the orchestra floor. The maximum seating capacity of the balcony is 300, bringing the total seating capacity of the house to the 1,100 mark. Hallway between the foyer and the balcony there is located on one side a ladies' parlor, equipped with attractive furniture and fixtures. The opposite side of the corresponding space is taken up by the manager's office and ushers' locker-room. One of the most sanitary and novel conveniences in the building are the drinking fountains Entrance of the Columbia theatre.
