Prologue to feature — Battlefield set with interior of trench in front centre stage. Opens with Mark Strand Quartette in French soldier garb singing, " Madelon " (Roberts). Artillery duel with effects of bombing and bursting shell. A lull and Leonard SamolofT, operatic tenor, leaps to top of trench and standing on illuminated light trap, sings "La Marseillaise," accompanied by quartette. Feature — I Accuse. Comedy — 15 Minutes, Organ Solo — " Marche Militaire Francaise " (St. Saens), Edward Napier and John Hammond. Next Week — Victor Herbert and Constance Talmadge on same bill. Big Houses Says — (Continued from page 2281) Played this with a special lobby, and lots of advertising, but did not justify expenditure, or expectations. (Middle West.) Thrills aplenty. Well done in all particulars. Very good business at two houses simultaneously for the week. (Middle West.) SELZNICK Handcuffs or Kisses — The average Elaine Hamraerstein picture. Pleasing, and a fair box office attraction. (Middle West.) Bucking the Tiger — Unattractive title, and a star whose recent pictures have been so uninteresting that I took this off after a three-day run. Poor stuff. (Middle West.) Is Life Worth Living? — This picture is right good. Eugene O'Brien is popular with our fans and it went over quite satisfactorily and profitably. Comment rather complimentary. (South.) PATHE The Rider of the King Log — Very good picture but didn't draw big crowds. Business poor for week. (Middle West.) HODKINSON Rip J an Winkle — Very good picture. Thomas Jefferson's work particularly well received. Not much business, probably on account of strong counter attractions. (Middle West.) STATE RIGHTS Why Girls Leave Home — Tremendous business. I couldn't take care of the crowds on opening night, and had to run an extra midnight show. Title is a sure thing so far as business goes. (Middle West.) Burn 'Em Up Barnes — • Declared a very fine comedy and well liked by all patrons. (Middle West.) Charge It — Mediocre picture. It got by with the usual box o£5ce receipts. (West) The Raiders — Franklyn Famum is getting almost as popular as William. And in this picture he made himself more than solid with our audiences. (East.) I It Might Happen to You — Picture is mighty good, and business was good. (East.) *
