Associated 's Big Program
Offers Jane Novak and Mary Anderson in Two Series of Features
ASSOCIATED PHOTOPLAYS, INC., in making their announcement of their productions for 1921-1922 wish to lay great stress upon the class of these pictures.
They will have five Chester Bennett Productions starring Jane Novak, who recently finished playing opposite William S. Hart. Miss Novak is of the blonde type and one of the best known screen stars. Among her productions are numbered " The River's End," " The Temple of Dusk," " Wagon Tracks," " Isobel," " Kazan," and a number of others.
She is ideal for the class of productions that she has been cast for. Miss Novak has always been sought for the appealing type which lends itself so well to the outdoor pictures in which she has been most successful.
Miss Novak's first picture is a story of the dance halls and gold fields of Alaska, by J. Grubb Alex
ander and Harvey H. Gates. Mr. Bennett, who formerly directed Antonio Moreno at Vitagraph, directed Miss Novak. The supporting cast includes Noah Beery in the role of Wade Harkin, the brutal Husband, and Frank Glendon, Alfred Hollingsworth and Florence CarpenterMary Anderson is starring in six Scott Dunlap productions which will be a series of comedy dramas. Miss Anderson, known as one of the best comedians on the screen, has appeared in such productions as " The Hush Hour," " Jonny Get Your Gun," " False Faces," " The Spender," " Bubbles," etc. Miss Anderson bases her great popularity and following upon the various serials in which she has played, and the new series of pictures which she has entered upon for Associated Photo-Playa gives this captivating Miss many opportunities for her droll humor and funny situations.

Will Observe November as R. S. Cole Month;" Hope to Set Record
Although R-C Pictures has recorded a splendid record during October, Mr. Rogers is confident that with a little extra effort and the exceptional volume of advertising and publicity which will be put behind R-C productions, November should establish bigger records than ever.
Not only will the publicity and advertising departments concentrate upon R. S. Cole Month in a nation-wide campaign, but a corps of experts is already engaged in devising a special assortment of accessories to be distributed to exhibitors next month free of charge. Other exploitation aids will be furnished exhibitors booking R-C subjects during the drive in honor of Mr. Cole.
RC. PICTURES CORPORATION has dedicated the month of November to its president, R. S. Cole, and will call it " R. S. Cole Month " as a testimonial to his leadership and business acumen, according to Charles R. Rogers, general manager of distribution.
Mr. Rogers and his co-workers in the selling division will launch what he expects to be the greatest business drive in the histoy of this organization. Every branch manager has been instructed to notitfy his staff that November will be dedicated to Mr. Cole and that each of the twenty-six branches will be expected to put forth every possible efTort to establish new selling records during that period.

Attractive Football 24-Sheet Advertises " Two Minutes to Go "
AN extensive billboard campaign in behalf of Charles Ray's new production for First National "Two Minutes to Go" was begun this week in Greater New York City, Brooklyn, Bronx and adjacent territories as the advance exploitation of the new Ray release which is' scheduled for distribution on October 17th. The poster campaign will run for sixty days on this feature alone, and in Brooklyn where the film opens at the Strand on November 6th, the number of stands heralding the new feature will be doubled in number preceding the opening and during the production's run at the Brooklyn's run at the Brooklyn picture house.
Arthur S. Kane who presents the star for distribution through the First National circuit, in announc
ing the beginning of the billboard campaign on October 10th, declared that the sponsors of " Two Minutes To Go " had initiated their program of advertising with the idea of getting the greatest amount of patronage possible from the seasonal appeal of the subject.
" The twenty-four sheet heralding " Two Minutes To Go " which is on hundreds of stands throughout Greater New York shows the single figure of Mr. Ray crouching in position ready for the signal to go. This alert figure and the simple announcement of the title against a white background makes up the twenty-four sheet and makes it one of the most arresting pieces of billboard advertising on the streets of the city today.
"Poppy" Named for Next lalmadge Revival
(Jf the twelve Talmadge revivals—six by Norma and six by Constance— promised as units in the " F'orly f rom Selznick " for this season, " Poppy " is in Select exchanges ready for distribution with Norma Talmadge the star. When Lewis J. Selznick was making screen stars of the Talmadge girls Eugene O'Brien was, at the time, also under contract with the same producer and it was the coordination between star and leading man that had so much to do with winning success for Norma, whom he continually played opposite.
The screen version was made and originally released in 1916, from a stage play based on the novel by Cynthia Stockley. Supporting Miss Talmadge, in the company led by Eugene O'Brien, appeared Frederick Perry, Jack Meredith, Dorothy Rogers, Edna W histler and Marie Haines.
Vitagraph Has Trailers for "Flower of North"
Prints of a special trailer on Vitagraph's James Oliver Curwood super-feature " Flower of the North " have reached every Vitagraph branch office, and it is reported that the screening of these trailers has caused considerable comment by exhibitors in all parts of the United States and Canada.
The trailers, though short, show the rapids scenes, the big fight in a besieged cabin, the friendly Indians galloping to the rescue, a man's fight for his sweetheart's life in the seething rapids just above a water-fall, and several other flashes of red-blooded action.
"The Four Horsemen" Has 100 Road Companies
More than one hundred road companies of " The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse," a Rex Ingram production for Metro of the internationally famous novel of Vicente Blasco Ibanez, are today touring the country while the home offices of the big producing company are besieged with requests to send out additional companies to meet the demand for this, the most popular film in the history of the screen.
The special presentation which Metro has arranged in connection with every showing of " The Four Horsemen," has received unlimited commendation. As a setting for this most elaborate offering of the cinema world a special musical score was arranged by Dr. Hugo Riesenfeld, director of the Criterion, Rivoli and Rialto theatres, New York, which has proved universally popular.

Tames Oliver Curwood, the " Arrow " author, has become a member of the Board of Directors of Pine Tree Pictures, Inc., the Maine Company producing the four big pictures on Curwood's well known stories, " God's Country and the Law," " The Girl From Porcupine," and two others to follow.
