No wonder that between the fights and the feuds, Van finds time to sing tender love ballads to Janet Leigh — the girl of his heart — and sings as he never has before.
★ ★ ★ Gusto went into the acting of stalwart Thomas Mitchell, Marshall Thompson, Selena Royle, Dean Stock well. Zest went into the screenplay by Lester Cole. Roy Rowland’s direction, the produc¬ tion of Jack Cummings have vigor and taste.

Not far over the horizon are two other M-G-M biggies: “Song of Love”, star¬ ring Katharine Hepburn, Paul Henreid and Robert Walker, which shapes up as one of the greatest love stories of all time; “The Unfinished Dance”, in Technicolor, starring Hollywood’s biggest little star, Margaret O’Brien.
