We use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) during our scanning and processing workflow to make the content of each page searchable. You can view the automatically generated text below as well as copy and paste individual pieces of text to quote in your own work.

Text recognition is never 100% accurate. Many parts of the scanned page may not be reflected in the OCR text output, including: images, page layout, certain fonts or handwriting.

55 understanding in areas which were not always easy to define. The mutual respect, understanding and friendships which, we believe, have resulted, are a dividend which we also greatly cherish for we feel we are all equally dedicated to the same high ideals . We have attempted to administer those grants we have received with responsibility and integrity. We are proud of the record we have been able to register so far, and of the standards set for the future. We hope the Foundation may, in some small measure, share our enthusiasm and pride, and that posterity will find these efforts, however imperfect, to be significant to American education and democracy in our day. Our most sincere thanks. Respectfully submitted on behalf of the NAEB Board of Directors, and NAEB President William G. Harley Harry J. Skornia Executive Director March, 1959 HEH/HJS/rs
