w Eastern Educational Network July 22, 1968 Mr. Ken Clark Project Director, Programs for the Disadvantaged Educational Television Stations National Association of Educational Broadcasters 1346 Connecticut Avenue Washington, D.C. 20036 Dear Ken: I am writing in response to your memo of June 25 requesting information on programming for the dis¬ advantaged. The Eastern Educational Network received a programming grant of $250,000 last January to pro¬ duce a number of specia l programs which would help to demonstrate regional networking in Public Tele¬ vision. Although most of the programs were pro¬ duced as "live" specials utilizing the EEN inter¬ connection and featured timely subjects and per¬ sonalities, we have managed to extend the distri¬ bution of one program, TALKING BLACK, through national distribution with ETS-Program Service. I am enclosing a transcript on the TALKING BLACK program and the EEN press release on the other programs which were about and for the dis¬ advantaged. I hope this information will serve your purpose for background on EEN programming to and about the disadvantaged. Please keep in mind that many EEN affiliates produce programs on their own in this category and I am sure they will report their activities to you separately. 575 Technology Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139 Tel. 617-491-0045
