FCC SETS WQST CASE FOR HEARING PAGE 3 September I. 1943 The Federal Communications Commission decioed on August 17 to hold another PUBLIC HEARING ON AN APPLICATION FOR RENEWAL OF THE LICENSE OF RADIO station WGST, Atlanta. No date was set. Until final action is taken, the station continues to operate under temporary authority. FCC Chairman James L. Fly and another member of the Commission, T. a. M. Craven, voted-against holding another hearing. They were overruled by the MAJORITY. The Georgia School of Technology holds the license for operation of station WGSTo However, the FCC has charged that the school made an operating agreement with southern broadcasting stations, incorporated, which transferrec ACTUAL CONTROL® At ONE OF THE HEARINGS THE SCHOOL PROPOSED THAT THE AGREEMENT WITH THE INCORPORATION BE TERMINATED, AND THAT THE SCHOOL EXERCISE COMPLETE CONTROL. PRESUMABLY THE NEW HEARING WILL 0E HELO TO DETERMINE WHETHER THIS PLAN H^S BEEN PUT INTO EFFECT.
