Digest

j| Ten years may only mark the span of childhood in human life, ten years in century-old industries may be only a brief and dull chapter, but ten years in the motion picture industry means something.
So, while Box Office Digest is not yet ready to sprout a beard or reach for a cane, we feel somewhat solid and settled as we present herewith the Tenth Anniversary edition.
]} And we again take the opportunity to thank the loyal friends who have made its impressive size possible. While we also congratulate them individually on the sort of company they are found in collectively.
Yes, we have always been proud of the* representative character of Box Office Digest friends, and never more so than this year. They are the cream of the industry.
Events occurring round and about us on this Tenth Anniversary give cause for considerable interesting speculation regarding the Eleventh Anniversary.
Things are happening. Next year will see a new Universal-Interna¬ tional organization represented, the important activities of EinfeldLoew in Enterprise will be a factor, a new Eagle-Lion will have swung into action, Howard Hawks' Monterey Pictures will be among other new independents representing top creators, United States Pictures, Robert Riskin and Liberty’s combination of directorial genius will have established their place.
Hal Wallis will have rounded out his second year of importance in big scale independent activity. The strength of continued perform¬ ance delivery will have added to the stature of such independents as Sam Goldwyn, Walter Wanger, Ben Bogeaus, Hunt Stromberg, Robert Golden, Hakim Brothers, Seymour Nebenzal's Nero productions.
]} Interesting it is, indeed, to attempt to visualize the picture scene, both domestic and world-wide, a year from this, our happy Tenth Anniversary.
