LOADING THE CAMERA
Keep the small aluminum box in which your film is packed so that you may use it as a container for mailing back to the processing station. Wind your film far enough to record your first exposure, and don't wind it too far when making your last exposure and do not make more than 18 exposures on one film. These specific instructions will vary for different types of cameras. After taking your last picture, rewind the film on to the original film spool and when you feel no tension, give the spool a few extra turns. Open the camera and remove the film magazine. Without delay return it to the processing station for developing.
Learn the "feel" of tension when winding your film although this will not happen more often with Kodachrome than with ordinary film. If complications arise, open the camera in a dark room and make adjustments. Also, if you have exposed only part of a roll and wish to switch film, note the number on your film indicator, and proceed to wind back the film as though the roll were completely exposed, except that you must be careful to stop rewinding before the pull-out flap of the film recedes back into the magazine. If you are using a Contax or Leica camera you can accomplish this by rotating the rewind knob about half a turn after the change of tension indicates that the film has left the rewind spool. The Contax with two magazines or the Robot may be opened any time by sacrificing only two frames. With the Kodak Retina, listen to the clicking sound which indicates that the perforated or exposed part of the film is still winding back into the magazine spool. As soon as this click ceases, give
