McConnell, NBC president, who had been in the switching center throughout the morning and watched the NBC crews at work, then asked that the doors be closed. He gathered together all members of the staff who had participated in the back-breaking endeav¬ ors of the past week, congratulated them and said that they had ren¬ dered a fine service to the American public. KALTENBORN TO ANALYZE CONVENTION NEWS H.V. Kaltenborn, noted NBC news commentator, will present the news and his analysis of the news on two special programs over NBC radio Sunday, July 20 and 27, at 3:45-4:00 p.m., EDT. On July 20 he will speak from Chicago on developments on the eve of the Democratic Convention, and on July 27 he will speak from New York on post-conven¬ tion news. SIDELIGHTS OF NBC’S CONVENTION COVERAGE During the five days of the Republican Convention hundreds of spectators crowded round an NBC television set in the hallway outside the network's headquarters to watch the proceedings on the floor of the International Amphitheatre not 20 feet away. **# (more )
