September 2, 1952 ’ THEATRE GUILD ON THE AIR’ RETURNS TO NBC RADIO FOR 8TH SEASON WITH HELEN HAYES, JOSEPH COTTEN IN ’THE WISTERIA TREES' X # # X RETURNING SERIES Ushering in its eighth season of outstanding drama on radio, THEATRE GUILD ON THE AIR returns to the NBC radio network Sunday , Sept . 14 (8:30 p.m., EDT), starring Helen Hayes and Joseph Cotten in ’’The Wisteria Trees.” A great success on Broadway - and a great personal triumph for Miss Hayes - "The Wisteria Trees” is Joshua Logan’s adaptation of the Anton Chekhov classic, ”The Cherry Orchard.” This will be its ra¬ dio premiere. Continuing under the sponsorship of U.S. Steel, ’’Theatre Guild on the Air” stars the finest performers of Broadway, Hollywood and the London stage in vehicles worthy of these players. Armina Mar¬ shall is executive producer of the program, which is directed by Homer Fickett. Harold Levey is the music director and Norman Brokenshire the announcer. George Hicks, noted radio reporter who distinguished himself most recently at both political conventions in Chicago, speaks for U.S. Steel during intermissions of ’’Theatre Guild on the Air.” (more )
