September 29 , 1954 'BAROMETER - 1954’ SERIES ON NBC RADIO WILL OFFER BACKGROUND DATA ON APPROACHING ELECTIONS BAROK ER 1954 will kick-off the NBC News Department’s pre-election coverage of the political scene Sunday, Oct, 3 (NBC Radio network 7-8 p.m., E3T). Following this special one-hour show, there will be half-hour weekly programs (10:30-11 p.m., EST* Tuesdays, Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26). "Barometer - 1954" presents a wrap-up to show the wide /ariety of campaign issues, techniques, tactics and personalities. The show, under the supervision of the NBC News Department, will be aided by pick-ups from NBC affiliate stations1 news departments throughout the nation* each area reporting on the important campaign races (for Senate, House or governorship, as the case may be). Some of the important states reporting will be: Illinois, California, New York, Connecticut, Utah, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Kentucky, Iowa, Kansas, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon North Carolina, New Jersey, Louisiana, Texas, Idaho and Indiana. NBC reporter Merrill Mueller handles the commentary and continuity on "Barometer - 1954." Washington reporter-analyst Joseph C. Harsch will present a special segment dealing with "How the iiLnority of the U.S. Voters Actually Elects Our Congress," while NBC ”vite House reporter, Ray Scherer, comments on "Eisenhower and his (more )
