The four winning essays from each station will be forwarded to Dr. H, Bailey Carroll, Professor of History at the University of Texas, for further judging. Semi-final selections will be made on a regional basis with six boys and six girls chosen from six regions in the U.S. The dozen winners will receive all-expense-paid trips with chaperones to San Antonio for the rodeo and complete Roy Rogers or Dale Evans wardrobes. In San Antonio, the boy and girl with the most outstanding essay will be named "Junior King of the Cowboys" and "Junior Queen of the West." They will ride with Roy and Dale in the rodeo parade and will be introduced during the June 21 NBC -TV program. General Poods Corp. will sponsor the "Roy Rogers World Championship Rodeo."
