Sargent Shriver Jr., president of the Chicago Board of Education, will appear on WMAQ's "Mary Merryfield" program Nov» 12 and WNBQ's "Live and Learn" program Nov, 17 , In Los Angeles, Station KRCA is sparking a drive to encourage citizens to learn more about the schools in their area by attending "open house" sessions. Each of the station's live shows and many promotional announcements will encourage inspection visits to the school buildings. Local educational institutions are continuing to cooperate in providing subject matter for the newly created series, "Our Greatest Resource" and "Pathways to Knowledge." "This is KNBC, San Francisco, observing National Education Week" is that station's identification during Nov. IO-16, and local activities connected with observance of the week will be promoted by the station. NBC Public Service Awards will be presented to an outstanding teacher in Northern California and to the San Francisco District of the Congress of Parents and Teachers for public service through its child welfare program. Students of the annual Radio-TV Institute conducted by KNBC and Stanford University will present a special broadcast and the Junior League of San Francisco will conduct a program on the weekly series, "Know Your Community."
