TELEVISION NEWS November l8, 1957 BIG STARS, GIANT BALLOONS, GALA FLOATS AND MARCHING BANDS WILL HIGHLIGHT NBC TELECAST OF MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE The 31st annual MACY'S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE in New York will be seen on NBC-TV Thursday, Nov. 28, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, EST. The telecast will be sponsored by the Sweets Company of America, Inc., and the Ideal Toy Corporation, The traditional parade will be over two miles long and will feature TV and movie stars, bands, floats and the famous Macy balloons. Hugh 0*Brian (TV’s Wyatt Earp) will be the grand marshal. Farley Granger, Hopalong Cassidy, Eddie Foy Jr,, and Margaret O'Brien will appear in the procession, too. Along with the guests will be 13 bands and drumandbugle corps. There will be five giant heliumfilled balloons that have come to be a trademark of the parade. In addition to the observation, spaceman, turkey and soldier balloons will be a new Inflated figure of Popeye.
