NARRATOR, STORY EDITOR FOR ’MODERN ROMANCES’; MARTHA SCOTT LEAVING SERIES FOR STARRING BROADWAY ROLE Mel Brandt will step into a new role on Monday, Nov, 29 as host, narrator and story editor on NBC -TV’s MODERN ROMANCES (telecast Monday through Friday, 4; 45 p.m,, EST). He replaces Martha Scott who requested release from the dramatic daytime series to accept a starring role in the forthcoming play "Cloud Seven." Mel - unseen - has been assigned most recently as a "voice" on television. However, about 10 years ago, he appeared in such dramatic shows as "Kraft Television Theatre," "Gangbusters" and "Counterspy," among others. Quite by accident, in 194?^ when he appeared for a dramatic show audition, he was auditioned — and hired — as an announcer for NBC Radio’s "When a Girl Marries." Next he became a staff announcer. From 1955 to 1957^ he was the familiar "voice over" on NBC -TV’s "Producer ’ s Showcase." He is also a com¬ municator for NBC Radio’s "Monitor." * * * (more)
