NEW POLICY ON 'MODERN ROMANCES' PROGRAM WILL PRESENT DIFFERENT STAR EACH WEEK AS STORYTELLER A new policy of starring a different top entertainment personality each week as storyteller is being launched by NBC-TV's dramatic daytime series MODERN ROMANCES (Monday through Friday, 4:45 p.m. , EST) . According to Stark-Layton, the show's producers, this replaces a long established policy of having a permanent narrator for the five -times -a-week drama program. Hollywood and Broadway star Gene Nelson will inaugurate the new format as storyteller for the week of March 31-April 4. Stars for subsequent weeks will be announced soon. Nelson first won public attention as a dancer on the West Coast, and later on Broadway in "Lend an Ear" in 1948. Soon after, he received film offers and co-starred in nine feature productions with Doris Day, Gordon MacRae, Virginia Mayo, James Cagney and other stars. He has made many guest appearances on network television pro¬ grams including the "Steve Allen Show. " He was co-starred in the movie version of "Oklahoma," and is currently starring in the New York revival of this perennially popular musical play. NBC -New York, 3/19/58
