NBC TELEVISION NETWORK NEWS April 27, I960 ’THE IRON HORSEMAN, ’ NEW ADVENTURE SERIES OP EARLY RAILROADING DAYS IN SOUTHWEST, IS BEING PREPARED AS POSSIBLE NIGHTTIME PRESENTATION ON NBC -TV NETWORK IN 1960-61 SEASON "The Iron Horseman," a half-hour filmed adventure series set in the Southwest during the early days of the railroad, is being pre¬ pared for possible nighttime presentation on the NBC-TV Network during the 1960-61 season. Announcement of the new series, which will co-star Grant Williams and Barry Kelley, was made today by David Levy, Vice President, Programs and Talent. Young Ben Scott (Grant Williams), failing in his attempt to wrest control of the Trans-Central Railroad from the line's president, whose friend and protege he had been, tries to persuade his father, an engineer for the company, to join him in a ranching venture. The older man refuses and upbraids his son for what he considers disloyalty to the railroad’s president. But before they can resolve their differ¬ ences, Ben’s father is killed by train robbers. To avenge the murder, Ben teams up with Trans-Central division superintendent Lew Willis (Barry Kelley) and tracks down the outlaws. As a result, Ben gets an offer from the railroad’s management to run the "trouble part" of the line and protect the expanding right-of-way and those who ride on it. Ben accepts the offer, determined to help develop the lonely prairie and mountain country his father loved so well, until the time is right for him to again fight for control of the line.
