NBC TRADE NEWS August 16, i960 IT WILL 3E ' THE DAVE GARROWAY TODAY SHOW1 Man-of‘Today 1 Honorsd by NBC-TV Network In Re-Naming of Early-Morning Series Man-of"Today" Dave Garroway, who has scored each season since 1952 with man-of-the-year distinction on the NBC-TV earlymorning (MondaythroughFriday, 7-9 a.m. NYT) series, is being honored by the network by re-naming the program "The Dave Garroway Today Show . " When the new name - announced today by Jerry A. Danzig, Vice President, NBC Participating Programs - becomes effective Thursday, Sept. 15* it will recognize in title what the program has always achieved in deed: the joint identification of man and series by millions of viewers. "Over the past nine years Dave Garroway and 'Today' have become synonymous in the minds of TV viewers, " Mr. Danzig said. "This is NBC's way of showing appreciation for Dave's acceptance by the public and advertisers, his national identity with 'Today* and the ever-growing vitality he gives the program." Since its origination in January, 1952, Dave Garroway and "Today" have become an early-morning ritual in households from coast to coast.
