NBC NEWS COVERS CONGO CLASH AND GETS FILM ON WAY TO NEW YORK AFTER POLICE DELAY NBC News cameramen filmed a clash between Congo police and demonstrators in Leopoldville yesterday (Aug. 25) and, after some difficulty of their own with police, are shipping the film to New York for telecast on the NBC-TV Net¬ work. Cameramen John Peters and Claude Favier were at the scene when more than a score of the demonstrators were arrested as Premier Patrice Lumumba arrived at the opening of a pan-African conference in Leopoldville. NBC News correspondent John Rich, also at hand, reported on the NBC Radio Network today that the police turned on reporters and cameramen who had witnessed the clash and confiscated their cameras and tape recorders. Rich said that Peters was taken into custody but was later released and his camera and film were returned. He said that both NBC cameramen managed to salvage all their film of the incident . o NBC -New York, 8/26/60
