KINTNER SENDS PLAQUES TO 200 EMPLOYEES OP THE 7 NEW YORK DAILIES WHO APPEARED ON NBC NEWS PROGRAMS OR WHO WORKED AS NBC NEWS STAFF WRITERS DURING THE NEWSPAPER SHUTDOWN Plaques have been sent by Robert E. Kintner, President of' the National Broadcasting Company, to 200 employees of the seven New York City daily newspapers who appeared on NBC News programs or worked as NBC News staff writers during the newspaper shutdown. "I want you to know that NBC and I personally appreciate the valuable contribution you made to the expanded news coverage undertaken by NBC during the recent and unfortunately prolonged New York City news¬ paper shutdown," Mr. Kintner said in letters accompanying the gifts. "I hope the accompanying memento will invoke agreeable memories of your experiences as a broadcaster." The front page of each recipient’s newspaper was reproduced in a copper engraving, mounted on a walnut block seven-and -one -fourth by four -and -one -half inches. In each case the front page was of the last edition printed before the shutdown. A zinc plate bearing the person’s name and the words "NBC News" was below the engraving.
