JACK TRACY ROOM 320 TsTBC TRADE N2WWS June 24, 1963 ZENITH AND AMANA TO CO-SPONSOR NBC -TV COLOR COVERAGE OF SECOND ANNUAL WORLD SERIES OF GOLF The second annual World Series of Golf, in which the winners of four major tournaments will compete for a $50,000 first prize, will be televised in color by the NBC-TV Network Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7 and 8, NBC Director of Sports Tom S. Gallery announced today. Commentators Chick Hearn and Jack Drees will describe the action at the final six holes on both days of the links classic. Tne sportscasters also announced last year's inaugural World Series of Golf, also on NBC-TV. Site of the 36-hole, medal-play competition again will be the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. TV time on both days will be 4:30 to 6 p.m. EDT. NBC-TV* s color coverage of the World Series of Golf will be co-sponsored by Zenith Radio Corporation (through Foote, Cone & Belding Inc.) and Amana Refrigeration Inc. (through MacFarland, Aveyard & Company) . Julius Boros as the winner of the U. S. Open Championship last weekend, and Jack Nicklaus as the Masters Tournament titleholder, have already qualified for golf's World Series this year.
