NBC COLOR TELEVISION NEWS June 24, 1963 DEBUT FOR PEACOCK STUDIO 8H Is Transformed into NBC’s Newest, Most Versatile Color Television Broadcasting Facility NBC’s newest color facility. Peacock Studio, in the RCA Building, New York, was introduced to the Press today (June 24), mark¬ ing another major chapter in the history of one of the world’s bestknown broadcasting sites. The famous studio was recently rebuilt primarily for color TV programming, and is now NBC-TV’s most elaborate and most versatile color facility. Under its former name of 8-H, the studio - 10,000 square feet in area and three stories in height - was noted as point of origin for top radio shows and - as the medium of sight transmission developed - for major television programs too. Now, in its latest transformation, the studio - with entrances on the eighth and ninth floors - represents an ultra-modern addition to the NBC-TV Network’s color facilities. The change in name was accompanied by a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling transformation to accommodate color television. Named after the famous NBC-TV color insignia, and equipped with the latest color production facilities. Peacock Studio stands as a symbol of the development of color TV.
