July 2, 1963 PULL-HOUR NBC NEWS COLOR TV SPECIAL TO PRESENT INTIMATE PORTRAIT OP PRESIDENT IN EUROPE Program Will Evaluate Results of Two K An intimate portrait of President Kennedy on his tour of Europe - presenting closer and more informal coverage of his activities than has appeared on other news programs - will be telecast in color as a full-hour NBC News special program Friday, July 3 on NBC-TV (7:30-8:30 p.m. EDT). The program will cover the Presidents visits to West Germany, Ireland, Great Britain and Italy, reviewing its high¬ lights and evaluating its results. Producer Chet Hagan said the coverage, filmed by special camera crews solely for this program, will be different from the live or tape coverage shown on pre¬ vious programs dealing with the tour. Hagan said the film crews were able to get closer and more informal views of President Kennedy than those which have appeared on other programs. NBC News cameramen Sy Avnet of New York and Broadford Kress of Washington followed the President throughout the trip, shooting only color film. This coverage was augmented by the work of other color film crews at various places.
