SIX NBC-TV PROGRAMS NAMED RECIPIENTS OF GOLDEN EAGLE AWARDS BY COUNCIL ON INTERNATIONAL NONTHEATRICAL EVENTS (CINE)
Six programs telecast by the National Broadcasting Company during the 1963-64 season have been announced as recipients of Golden Eagle Awards by the Council on International Nontheatrical Events (CINE) in its annual documentary film competition.
NBC News was honored for "Experiment in Excellence" and "Greece: the Golden Age." "Experiment in Excellence," a study of advance teaching techniques was produced by Robert J. Northshield and "Greece: the Golden Age" by Lou Hazam.
"That War In Korea" and "The World of Maurice Chevalier," both NBC Special Projects productions, received Golden Eagle Awards. Donald B. Hyatt, Director of NBC Special Projects produced and directed the documentary about the Korean War. Eugene S. Jones produced and directed the Chevalier story.
Also honored by CINE were an episode entitled "The Restless Sea" from the "Bell System Science Series" and "Hailstones and Halibut Bones," a segment of an "Exploring" episode. "The Restless Sea" was produced by Walt Disney Productions. Five selections from "Hailstones and Halibut Bones," a book of poems about colors by Mary O'Neill, with accompanying animation, was produced by Craig Fisher.
Golden Eagle Awards are given to films that CINE judges eligible to represent the United States abroad in major international film festivals. The awards will be presented on Nov. 10.
