MICROSCOPIST’S BI-UNIAL LANTERN.
8430 The Microscopist’s Bi-nnial Lantern. This lantern has been specially designed for use with the projecting microscope, designed by Lewis Wright, Esq. The lower lantern has a brass front, and 5-in. quad¬ ruple condenser, to which the microscope is attached. When this is being used, the top lantern, which is fitted with an ordinary optical lantern front, can be used for showing photo-micrographs, or drawings of micro¬ scopic objects. Kemoving the microscope, a 5-in. parallel beam is procurable, for physical and other experiments, while the upper lantei n may be used for showing diagrams, &c. There is also a second optical lantern front supplied with the instrument, which is intended to replace the 5-in. front on the bottom lantern, when required for showing dissolving views. The lantern body is of polished mahogany, and the entire fronts are solid brass and of best work¬ manship (Fig. 8430).
